BJP women workers join NC
JAMMU MARCH 17- Seeking larger participation of women in ensuing Lok Sabha elections, Provincial President National Conference Women Wing Jammu, Mrs Vijaylaxmi Dutta on Monday said their role has been immense in strengthening democracy.
“Nation cannot progress until women are given major role in decision making”, she said at a function held at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan here this afternoon, held to welcome women BJP activists in the National Conference fold.
Mrs Dutta referred to initiatives taken by National Conference for empowerment of women by ensuring reservation in the grass roots level democratic institutions, which have helped this important segment of society seek solution to their problems and join the nation building effort in a big way. “Ours is the only party that has pioneered revolutionary measures for emancipation, awakening and empowering of women”, she said while referring to the great role of Madr-e-Meherban in improving female literacy.
The Provincial President Women Wing urged the women to cast their votes in favour of the coalition candidate in the upcoming parliamentary elections, saying this will be support to the policies and programmes of the party led by Dr Farooq Abdullah and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
Welcoming the new entrants into party fold,  Vice President Th Kashmira Singh and former Minister and Incharge Jammu district Babu Ram Pal said this will strengthen National Conference in isolating communal and disruptive forces, who were hell bent on creating wedge between different sections of the society on communal and regional lines.
Th Kashmira Singh exuded confidence about the success of coalition candidate given the excellent performance of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah during the past over five years. “Vote to coalition candidate will be yearning of people for carrying forward the development initiative to steer the state to pinnacles of progress”, he added.
Mr Ram Pal exhorted the people to reject the forces inimical to secular ideals cherished by the founding leaders like Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah and nurtured by huge NC cadre spread across the state. He said success of secular candidates will be a befitting reply to negative forces that have been playing ugly machinations to vitiate atmosphere ahead of elections.
Those who joined the party included Veena , Asha , Shunna Devi , Sunita Khajuria , Bala Jamwal ,Sita Devi .
